Two organisations had been arriving at the same households from opposite directions. Here is what we have agreed to do about it.
Shalom Rwanda and ENABLE Rwanda have begun working together on the ground in rural communities, bringing together two organisations that had been arriving at the same households from opposite directions.
ENABLE Rwanda works on conservation and digital agriculture, applied research, and community capacity building. We work on counselling, education and sustainable farming. In practice, we had both been walking into the same compounds — one of us to talk about trauma, the other to talk about soil — and asking the same families the same questions twice.
What the partnership covers
- Shared identification of households, so a family is assessed once rather than three times
- Agricultural training delivered through ENABLE Rwanda's programme to households already in our counselling work
- Joint reporting on what actually changes for a household when both kinds of support arrive together
What it does not change
Our counselling remains explicitly Christ-centred, and that is not something we are trading away for reach. The partnership works because both organisations were clear about that from the first conversation.
